Dawn K. Williams
American composer and mezzo-contralto Dawn K. Williams has written works for chamber ensembles, solo instruments and voice, orchestra, and electronic and film music. She has won over 25 prizes, grants, and commissions, both nationally and abroad. Her music has been played in North America, Europe, and Asia, and has been broadcast worldwide on commercial and public radio. She has sung in over 150 performances of opera and concert music, including unaccompanied recitals and often incorporating extended vocal techniques. She has soloed at locations including Curtiss Hall and the Magnificent Mile, before audiences as large as 900. Her biography appears in over 15 professional resources, and her works and performances have been taught at music schools internationally. She holds degrees from the Indiana University-Bloomington School of Music.
